Impact mats – the foundation of safe training
When running, we make sure we wear good shoes that protect our joints. In tennis, a good court surface helps prevent injuries. In golf, the mat you hit the ball from plays a key role. It determines whether your training is safe for your wrists, comfortable, and similar to playing on a natural course. At SIM|Golf, we offer impact mats that combine feel with high cushioning and durability – ensuring every shot is a pleasure. Whether you're playing at home, in the garden, or on the drawing range.
Why is an impact mat so important?
With every stroke, energy is transferred from the stick to the ball, but also to the ground and your body. A poorly chosen or too hard mat can lead to micro-injuries in the wrists, elbows, and shoulders, and over time, lead to more serious problems. A good mat:
at Absorbs shocks, protecting your wrists
at It gives a feeling similar to playing on the fairway
at Allows you to exercise longer without discomfort
at Provides a stable position and a feeling similar to natural grass
at It does not wear off in the form of micro-plastics present in the air
SIM|3D – three-layer premium mat
If you train frequently and intensely, SIM|3D is the perfect solution for you. The mat features a unique, three-layer construction, providing the highest level of cushioning and comfort.
Advantages of SIM|3D:
· Three-layer protection consisting of a durable top layer imitating natural grass, a resilient shock-absorbing layer made of elastic polyester fiber and a lower layer of EVA foam ensuring stability,
· Safe for health – effectively absorbs shocks, protecting the wrists from overload,
· Equipment protection – less wear and tear on poles,
· Realistic feel – a dense weave of nylon fibers and a combination of layers faithfully reproduce the resistance of the grass during impact,
SIM|3D is perfect for professional simulators and the drawing range.
SIM|2D – a solid, double-layer mat for everyday training
This is a great option for those looking for a combination of durability, comfort, and affordability. It's perfect for garden simulators and outdoor training.
Advantages of SIM|2D:
· Two-layer construction – the upper layer made of polyester grass and the lower layer made of EPDM rubber ensure stability and resistance to deformation,
· Resistance – the mat will withstand moisture, UV radiation and temperature fluctuations,
· Safety – cushioning of the surface reduces the load on the joints,
· Tee Holes – Allows the use of different types of tees.
Thanks to its durability and versatility, SIM|2D is perfect for the driving range, in the garden or in the golf course.
SIM|Tee40 – mat for wooden tees.
This mat is perfect for those who value playing with pegs inserted into the grass above all else. The thickness of the mat's pile allows for a stable placement of a wooden or plastic peg.
Advantages of SIM|Tee40
· Two-layer construction – the upper layer made of thick polyester grass and the lower layer made of EVA rubber ensure stability and resistance to deformation,
· Resistance – the mat will withstand moisture, UV radiation and temperature fluctuations,
· Safety – due to the thickness of 40mm, the cushioning of the fleece itself reduces the load on the joints,
· Tee holes - optional
Thanks to its structure and thickness, it is perfect for home and professional simulators.
How to choose the right mat?
When choosing an impact mat, it's worth considering: the training location – whether it will be used in a simulator, a garden, or a drawing range. The intensity of the game is also important. The more frequent and powerful the impacts, the greater the need for advanced cushioning (SIM|3D). Consider how important your tee preferences and of course, what size will suit you best.
The devil is in the details
When choosing an impact mat, remember that it has a specific thickness. Not everyone prefers a solution where the mat rests on top and protrudes above the existing floor. The ideal solution is to have its top surface flush with the green grass, imitating the surface of a putting green—so that impact mats can be an additional option in your home simulator. We'll help you choose the appropriate recesses and their depths depending on the chosen solution.
It's best when you're standing on a golf green that mimics the softness of a green. Perhaps the additional 20mm of EVA foam panels will make it feel like real grass? However, it's worth remembering that with intense play, some sections of the green can wear out, so consider a modular design that allows for easy replacement of worn-out parts.
Some players choose impact mats with inserts imitating sand or tall grass (rough). Will they be suitable for you? It depends, among other things, on the radar and software used. For example, TrackMan doesn't support these types of solutions. However, it's worth considering the SIM|Tee40 mat , whose structure allows you to play a driver from a classic wooden tee.
And grounding?
Intense play and high-speed impacts also pose the problem of static electricity in the floor covering. Accumulated charges can cause unpleasant electrostatic discharges, which impact the comfort of playing and operating the equipment. Proper grounding effectively eliminates this problem, ensuring smooth and comfortable gameplay. Therefore, it's worth considering our complete under-floor installation, which not only dissipates static electricity but also stabilizes the entire playing surface. This simple and effective solution increases safety, improves comfort, and extends the life of the floor covering and the electronic equipment used in the simulator.
Regardless of which type you choose, you'll get a mat that combines safety, comfort, and durability. Both models are designed to ensure your workout is safe and effective.
